Counseling with Valerie

Valerie Jackson is an Associate Professional Counselor whose heart is for people to grow in the knowledge of each aspect of spirit, soul, and body. She is passionate about helping her clients live powerfully in their true identity and purpose.

Utilizing cognitive therapy, Valerie helps her clients recognize and reprogram negative core beliefs that have created distorted thought processes and emotional extremes. She navigates with the client, their story, exploring key components that have impacted them including problematic insecurities, trauma, depression, and anxiety. Together, they address the emotional triggers and process the impact of the emotional and mental handicaps those negative core beliefs have created while moving her clients toward healing and wholeness. The result is emotional, mental, and spiritual alignment and harmony.

Valerie completed her master’s degree in professional counseling at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and her bachelor’s degree in Christian counseling at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Through her tenure in college, Valerie learned valuable lessons about putting God first and that doing the hard work is incredibly rewarding.

Valerie Finds Ways to Move Me Through My Challenges and Brings Me to Calm

When I started seeing Valerie for counseling, I was having struggles communicating with my husband and my mom. I was not feeling valued or heard. It was causing high anxiety, and I cried a lot in addition to having frequent headaches and weight gain. Valerie helped me face the issues head on and recover my voice. I now think clearer about situations as they unfold. I feel more confident in myself.

Positive affirmations really help to bring my whole self back to neutral when tensions are high. My sessions are an energy boost to get me through the next few weeks. I do believe that my growth and transformation is a process. It seems as if I change quite often and so just knowing that makes all the difference.

My counseling has been successful because I made the commitment to do it for ME! I’ve had many breakthroughs as it relates to my childhood and why I respond and react to certain things. It’s a blessing how my therapist finds helpful ways to move me through my challenges, and it brings me to calm.

I love how Valerie intertwines a faith-based approach that I can identify with and how she is so patient as I jump from one story to the next. I’m amazed that I have gone so long without counseling, and I think everyone would benefit from it. It’s a positive and safe outlet to work on the things that make you happy and feel grounded.

The Best Thing I’ve Done for Myself in a Long Time!

I finally decided to try counseling to deal with my depression. At times, I think I had resolved that I would just always live with depression, but I wanted to hope that there was something better and that I could heal from some of the hurt in my past.

I’m discovering freedom in my life simply because I’m talking about my struggles with someone, but I’m also discovering some core beliefs that I developed early in my life that have directed my emotions, perceptions and reactions, and I’m beginning to combat the lies with truth so that I can see with a healthier perspective, stop reacting out of my unhealthy core beliefs, and identify when my emotions are coming from unhealthy core beliefs or lies.

With Valerie’s help, I’m now seeing the unhealthy thought patterns, emotional spirals and assumptions I make about situations and how I relate those to the core beliefs. I’m seeing the root of some of my struggles for the first time and asking Jesus to meet me in those areas of hurt and bring healing to my life so that those hurts don’t continue to define me. I’ve also released some guilt and responsibility for a very unhealthy relationship that has been a source of stress for many years.

I recommend counseling to my friends and family because I think it is the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time.
