OCD Therapy in Peachtree City, GA

If obsessive thoughts and the rituals you use to quiet them are running more of your day than you are, therapy can help you get that time and energy back. Arise Counseling and Coaching provides OCD therapy for adults and teens in Peachtree City and by telehealth across Georgia. We use two evidence-based approaches that work without relying on forced exposure: Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). If you have looked for an OCD therapist near you and struggled to tell who actually treats OCD rather than general anxiety, you are in the right place.

What OCD Actually Looks Like

OCD is not being tidy or liking things a certain way. It runs on a loop. An intrusive thought, image, or doubt shows up and creates real distress, and a behavior or mental act brings a few minutes of relief. That relief is the trap, because it teaches the brain to run the loop again the next time the doubt appears.

It also takes more forms than most people expect:

  • Contamination fears with washing or cleaning
  • Checking locks, appliances, or whether you caused harm
  • Symmetry, ordering, and “not right” feelings
  • Intrusive taboo thoughts about harm, sex, or morality, often with no outward compulsion at all (sometimes called Pure O)
  • Scrupulosity, or religious and moral obsessions
  • Relationship doubts and constant reassurance-seeking

Many people live with this for years before they have a name for it, often because the thoughts feel too shameful to say out loud. Putting a name to it is the first real step, and it is one you can take here without judgment.

How We Treat OCD

Inference-based CBT (I-CBT) treats OCD as a reasoning problem. Instead of asking you to sit in feared situations, it works on the doubt underneath the obsession, the moment your mind leaves what you actually know and follows an imagined “what if” as though it were real. As that doubt loses its grip, the anxiety and the compulsions have less to feed on. I-CBT is recognized as an evidence-based treatment by the International OCD Foundation, and it tends to be a better starting point for people who have avoided help because exposure sounds unbearable, and for OCD that lives mostly in your head.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) builds the other half. It helps you make room for hard thoughts and feelings without having to obey them, and it keeps your attention on the life and values you actually want to move toward rather than on managing every intrusive thought.

OCD with ADHD or Autism

OCD often travels with ADHD and autism, and that overlap gets missed or mislabeled more than it should be. An individual with autism or a strong ADHD hyperfixation can look like OCD from the outside, and they are not the same thing. Treating them as if they were leads to the wrong plan and a lot of frustration.

Kelsey works specifically with OCD in neurodivergent adults and teens, and takes the time to sort out what is OCD, what is part of how your brain is wired, and what actually needs to change. If you have ever been told to “just stop” doing something that your nervous system is genuinely driving, this is a place that will tell the difference.

Meet Your OCD Clinician

Your OCD care at Arise is provided by Kelsey Newcome, LAPC, trained in Inference-based CBT through the OCD Training School and in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Kelsey provides assessment and treatment for OCD, so from your first session you have a clear read on what you are dealing with and a plan built around it.

What Working Together Looks Like

We start with an assessment to understand your obsessions, your compulsions (including the quiet, internal ones), and how much they are costing you. From there you get psychoeducation so the disorder stops feeling like a character flaw and starts looking like something with a mechanism you can work on. Then we build a personalized plan using I-CBT and ACT, and adjust it as you go.

The goal is not only fewer symptoms while you are in therapy. It is to leave you with skills and understanding you keep using long after our work together ends. We see adults and teens, in person in Peachtree City and by secure telehealth anywhere in Georgia.

The Difference

What Sets Arise Apart

Arise is a Christian Counseling Center that is both clinically sound and founded in Biblical truth. Our Christian Counseling approach incorporates Biblical principles, spiritual guidance, and Christian values in the therapeutic process.

We are also a professional, competent, clinically sound practice, and we serve clients from all faiths and all walks of life. If you do not want Christian values and Biblical principles integrated into your therapy, we will honor and respect that. For OCD in particular, this matters: if your obsessions carry religious or moral themes, you decide how much faith is part of the room, and we meet you there.

Faith-Based Guidance

We help you understand and cope with life challenges through the lens of your faith. We will offer encouragement by referencing Bible verses, prayer, and teachings from Christianity to support healing, hope, and growth.

Spiritual Healing

Our Counselors will focus on spiritual aspects, such as your relationship with God and your sense of purpose or calling in life. We will use scripture or prayer to help you process emotions and work through psychological difficulties in a spiritually nurturing way.

Values Alignment

Our Christian counselors will encourage you to align your behaviors, attitudes, and choices with biblical principles, helping you develop a Christ-centered approach to life’s challenges (e.g., overcoming anger, fear, shame, or forgiveness).

Insurance and Payment

Arise Counseling and Coaching is a private pay practice, and we do not accept insurance. However, we do provide a detailed superbill that you can submit for possible reimbursement through your insurance provider. Choosing private pay allows us to offer you a higher level of care—without the limitations, diagnoses, or restrictions often required by insurance companies. Your therapy remains confidential, personalized, and focused entirely on your goals, not dictated by what insurance will or won’t cover. While insurance-based therapy may seem more affordable upfront with a copay, it often comes with limitations in session frequency, length, and approach. This can lead to slower progress, surface-level work, and in many cases, people staying in therapy longer without experiencing meaningful change. Over time, that can actually cost more—emotionally, mentally, and financially—without the results you’re truly seeking.

FAQs

Do you offer ERP for OCD?

No. We provide I-CBT and ACT rather than Exposure and Response Prevention. I-CBT is an evidence-based approach that works on the doubt behind the obsession instead of through planned exposures, which many people find more approachable, especially for intrusive-thought OCD.

What is I-CBT?

Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treats OCD as a reasoning problem. It helps you catch the moment your mind trades what you actually know for an imagined possibility, so the obsessional doubt loses its power and the compulsions have less to hold onto. It does not require exposure exercises.

Do you treat OCD in teens?

Yes. Kelsey works with both adults and teens, and with parents who want to understand how to support a teen with OCD.

Can you help if I have ADHD or autism along with OCD?

Yes. Kelsey works specifically with OCD in neurodivergent clients and is careful to separate OCD from autistic routines or ADHD hyperfixations, so your plan targets the right thing.

Do you take insurance?

Arise is a private pay practice. We provide a detailed superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Do you offer online OCD therapy in Georgia?

Yes. We see clients in person in Peachtree City and by secure telehealth anywhere in the state of Georgia.
